It was shipped to me like this directly from Lunt and caused by the plastic cover caps that included with blocking filter.

You can get a free replacement element from Lunt Solar Systems, but I never opted to it because did not cause any image degradation. This item retails new for from all dealers. The blocking filter itself 100 functional with zero rust and molting on hydrogen alpha element. There is a slight scuff of the front, clear element but this does not cause any noticeable image imperfections at eyepiece.
